Pucklechurch Sports A.F.C.

Pucklechurch Sports has seen a few new faces join in the last couple of months and football in the village continues to thrive. I have taken over from Dick Savage as Secretary (a hard act to follow). We also have a new Chairman, Chris Belcher, who has taken over from Bob Wiltshire. Chris has been associated with Sports for many years, both as a player and as 1st team manager. Malcolm Grainger is continuing as our Treasurer. We are grateful to Bob and Dick for many years of dedicated service to the club. Both are continuing on the committee and are still actively helping out.

We also now have a new Supporters’ Club Chairman, Wendy Morgan, who has a strong team of members dedicated to raising much needed funds for the club. Stan Matthews has returned for a second spell as 1st team manager, with Andy Hawkins assisting. Andy Frankcom and Tom Hartree will continue to manage the reserves, and Simon Harries the 3rds.  We wish them every success in the coming season.

The new committee held a social evening with the Youth section committee on Friday, 30th July, with a barbecue and a few drinks. It was nice just to have an enjoyable evening for a change without thinking about fundraising, as is the usual case when committee members get together.

Football in the village now consists of three senior teams, plus youth teams at Under 8s, 9s, 10s, 11s, 14s and 16s. Nearly 130 people play football for Pucklechurch each weekend!

We are always on the lookout for new players, and anyone interested in playing for Pucklechurch should contact me (937 3077) or the Youth Secretary, Debbie Preece (937 2808).

During the playing season, fixtures for all games are displayed on the notice board outside the social club and are updated regularly.
